Residents and visitors to Cuyahoga Falls will soon be able to learn about the downtown's history in the context of the Cuyahoga River. This project has been funded by generous grants from the Ohio & Erie Canalway Association's Strategic Initiatives Program and Ohio Humanities. With additional donations and in-kind support from the City of Cuyahoga Falls, the Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Recreation Department, the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and the Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society, the DTCF Partnership will be constructing a history trail in Downtown Cuyahoga Falls. The Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society will be an instrumental partner in providing content and images for the signs.
This history trail will include up to 7 signs which tell the history of our Downtown as it relates to the Cuyahoga River and Falls, the City's namesake. This trail will be along Front Street and Riverfront Parkway from High Bridge Glens Park up to Portage Trail. The trail will be installed by Spring 2021.
The Downtown Cuyahoga Falls Partnership, a 501c3 nonprofit working to revitalize historic Downtown Cuyahoga Falls, is asking for community input to better understand which topics residents and visitors are most interested. Community members may submit the online survey below by August 4 or stop by outside the Downtown Pavilion (2085 Front Street) between 3pm-6pm on Tuesday, August 4 to provide in-person feedback. Masks are required for in-person feedback.
A special thanks to our grantors for making this project possible. Ohio & Erie Canalway Association's Strategic Initiatives Program provides funding to improve and beautify the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area. Ohio Humanities supports projects "with the goal of helping individuals and communities explore, share, and be inspired by the human experience."
