JONES BUILDING (1901)

Prior to construction of the much more fire-resistant red brick “Jones” building in 1901, this site was occupied by a smaller wood-frame building.

Frank Jones and his son operated the Jones Confectionary in this two-story masonry Romanesque Revival style building. Their store also provided ice cream to the Silver Lake Amusement Park which was delivered by wagon packed in dry ice. The shop moved to the Roethig building a few doors north after Frank closed the business.

In 1946 the Kippy Sandwich shop moved from across the street to this larger space where it remained for 38 years. A dairy product store, pharmacy and several other restaurants have occupied this building since.

The original storefront has been altered several times. The building is located within both the National Register and the Cuyahoga Falls Local Downtown Historic Districts.

Crave Cantina opened here during the recent downtown revival offering globally inspired tacos and Latin fare.
